In a case that could impact all businesses that operate on weekends, the Supreme Court has agreed to hear the appeal of a postal worker claiming religious bias by the US Postal Service (USPS). The claimant is an evangelical Christian who was forced to work on Sundays. The case is Groff v. DeJoy.
The USPS has withdrawn a proposed rule that announced a new service feature, Caller Service—Customized Address, which would've allowed current Caller Service customers to omit their Post Office Box number from the address of the mailpiece. The plan could have cost remittance processors tens of thousands of dollars per year.
In a new notice, the USPS is updating regulations concerning Commercial Mail Receiving Agencies (CMRAs). The revisions are being made to take advantage of the new electronic database to collect and manage the information collected on PS Form 1583, Application for Delivery of Mail Through Agent. The new changes would go into effect on March 1, 2023.

That has been followed by a cyberattack that caused even more disruptions. For over a week, the Royal Mail couldn’t process packages and letters for export.
On a more positive note, the National Postal Forum (NPF) has announced the inspirational speaker for this year’s event. Robyn Benincasa will share her ‘8 Essential Elements of Extreme Performance’ at the Partnership for Growth luncheon on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. The Berkshire Company is a proud partner of the NPF.
