Thursday Thoughts on AI: Artificial Intelligence and Sales

Last week, the blog post was about using artificial intelligence (AI) in developing requests for proposals. Some companies have taken it further, using AI platforms to manage the entire buying process.

Similarly, there are effective ways to integrate AI with your sales process. And if you run an in-plant, you have to sell to your users and leadership – so many of these techniques will work for you.

Four ways to use AI to assist with sales:

  1. Research. Before a sales call, or a meeting with management, you can use AI to build a profile of the prospect. Feed the AI engine the website address, a LinkedIn profile, and other notes. Create a prompt that asks for key pain points, likely objections, and tailored talking themes.

  2. Competitive Intelligence. What’s the other team doing? Prompt the AI tool to summarize what your competitor may be proposing. In some cases, it may even find potential pricing.

  3. Objection Handling. An AI agent can roleplay as a skeptical prospect. Have a back-and-forth dialogue to practice responses to tough objections.

  4. Maximize Your CRM Platform. AI tools can now integrate with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software. Through natural language prompts, the AI agent can create reports, summarize activities and propose priorities.
