Occasionally, this newsletter will share news stories about AI and its impact on businesses. The stories below demonstrate that workflow automation is accelerating, that companies are shifting from experimentation to production-scale AI, and that becoming “AI literate” is essential to success.

An article in CIO covered AI topics presented at the World Economic Forum. The post includes links to real-world AI case studies showing how AI is already transforming industries (operations, customer service, supply chains) beyond hype.

Similarly, Tech Crunch published “In2026, AI will move from hype to pragmatism”. This article discusses how in 2026there will be a focus on smaller language models, embedding AI into physicaldevices, and designing systems that integrate into human workflows. The piecehighlights the shift from flashy demos to targeted deployments, and from agents that promise autonomy to ones that actually augment how people work.

Several warnings are provided in the MIT Sloan Management Review article, "Five Trends in AI and Data Science for 2026". Authors Thomas H. Davenport and Randy Bean discuss how AI agents are falling into the "trough of disillusionment" in 2026. Experiments are finding that agents make too many mistakes for businesses to rely on them for processes involving money. It also addresses cybersecurity issues and alignment challenges.

Does your small business need assistance on educating your staff on AI? Two bills related to AI education were recently passed in the House of Representatives. H.R.5764 -AI for Main Street Act requires Small Business Development Centers to assist small businesses in evaluating artificial intelligence. This includes providing best practices for using AI, and guidance about using AI to plan for unexpected circumstances.

The companion bill is H.R.5784 -AI–WISE Act. This bill requires the Small Business Administration (SBA) to establish and maintain educational resources and modules on artificial intelligence tools. These resources and modules for small businesses must include information about how AI models work and how to identify, evaluate, and manage the risks of artificial intelligence. The resources and modules must be published on an existing SBA learning platform. The SBA also must establish an advisory working group to advise the SBA about relevant information for inclusion in the resources and modules.

Both bills have moved to the Senate for deliberation.

See you next week!

Amazing Astronomical Fact: The Sun is 400 times larger than the Moon, but also 400 times as far away, making both objects appear to be the same size in our sky. It’s why we experience total eclipses, while the other planets do not.
